DESCRIPTION:Detachment Summer Picnic\, PNSY Picnic Pavilion\nAll Hands\, \n         The Seacoast Detachment is again sponsoring their summer picnic on Saturday August 17th.  As with last year we will have our picnic at the Jamaica Island Picnic area aboard Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNSY) (map is attached).  In order to get “unescorted” access we need the following information from every non-DoD ID card holder:  \n\n Full Name and Age Group (18+\, 16-17\, 15 and younger).  \nIn these categories\, the following ID requirements are provided:\n\n o   18+: a state or federal government issued photo ID; \n o   16 or 17: a locally generated ID  (such as school ID) or birth certificate; \n o   15 years of age or younger: do not need ID. \n Again\, this is for all non-DoD ID card holders. We need this information\, sent to my email address (see below) no later than 31 July 2024.  Even if a person is a “maybe”\, provide their name and we will add them to the list.  At the front gate\, identify yourself and your guests\, produce your identification as called for and indicate you are attending the Seacoast Detachment summer picnic at Jamaica Island.  Keep in mind that all vehicles entering the base are subject to random searches thus no weapons or other contraband items should be on you or in your vehicle.  You will only be allowed to go to the picnic site and back and cannot tour other parts of the base unless you are in the company of a DoD ID Card Holder (Active Duty\, Reserve\, Retired\, DoD civilian employee (not a DoD retired civilian) or a military dependent with a dependent ID card).      \nIf any of your guests are Foreign Nationals/non-US citizens\, provide their information to me no later than 26 July 2024.  These individuals go through a separate vetting process. \nFor all others (i.e. DoD ID card holders\, etc.) please indicate your attendance and the number in your party using the above suspense date (31 July 2024) and identify yourself as a DoD ID card holder.  Of note\, all DoD ID card holders are authorized to escort (in the same vehicle) up to 3 non-DoD ID card holders.   \nThis event is open to all DNHMCL individuals and their families as with years past.  As in the past\, Seacoast Det will provide the meats\, beverages and fixings.  Other food items (sides/salads\, etc.) are welcome.  The one restriction is that whatever is brought cannot be in a glass container.  Our picnic coordinators are JA Brad Howe (iwojima21945@yahoo.com\, 603-571-4620) and Rich Pettengill (Richard@ccbgroup.org\, 978-372-0385).  They will provide full guidance on “potluck” items closer to the date of the event.  Below is a description of what Jamaica Island has to offer.  If you have young ones\, there is a spray park and playground adjacent to our picnic pavilion as well as a place to change clothes (not a port-a-john).  We look forward to hearing from you. \n PNSY – JAMAICA ISLAND \nNeed the perfect spot for a cookout? MWR offers the perfect waterfront picnic area\, Jamaica Island. Jamaica Island has three pavilions\, various sizes. All pavilions have picnic tables and the large pavilion has a built in counter\, perfect for serving food. Reservations can be made through Gear Rental by calling 207-438-1514. Open to Active Duty\, Retirees\, NAF or DoD civilians and sponsored guests. \nJamaica Island also includes a Spray Park\, Bocce Court and Corn Hole Court! \nThe Spray Park is on a timer. You activate the water by pressing the start button (on the green pole) only once. The spray park runs on a cycle of 25 minutes. DESCRIPTION:CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR CHESTER\, NH COMMUNITY FAIR SUNDAY\, 23 JUN 2024\, 0900 – 1530 \nWHO  Detachment members who want to promote the Ideals of the Marine Corps League\, collect donations\, hand out brochures\, recruit new members\, provide vet outreach\, hand out flags\, etc. \nWHAT  Chester\, NH community fair \nWHEN  Sunday\, 23 June 2024\, 0900 – 1530. \nWHERE  Busche Academy grounds\, 40 Chester St. Chester\, NH: https://www.buscheacademy.org/ \nWHY  To promote Marine Corps League membership\, patriotism\, collect donations\, interact with the community\, provide veteran outreach. \nSITUATION  On order assemble a recruiting/outreach team of Detachment members to assemble at a local community fair to promote the Seacoast Detachment #394\, Marine Corps League and collect donations to further our Detachment’s outreach. \nMISSION  Present our Detachment\, the Marine Corps League and Patriotism in a positive light encouraging interested individuals to make an investment in promoting the ideals of the Marine Corps League while also providing veteran outreach and collecting donations to promote our goals. \nEXECUTION  Assemble at the Assembly Area (40 Chester St.\, Chester\, NH) at 0900 on Sunday\, 23 June; set up Detachment booth to include Detachment event tent\, chairs\, tables\, handouts\, refreshments (i.e. water/snacks); participate in the outdoor fair answering questions from attendees; assist with the take down of Detachment equipment at the conclusion of the fair. \nADMIN AND LOGISTICS  Uniform is the Marine Corps League Summer uniform\, our casual uniform that is spelled out in our bylaws or civilian attire that includes Marine Corps/League apparel.  Provide event tent\, tables and chairs\, handout material\, refreshments\, etc.  Arrive at the Assembly Area in enough time to get set up and discuss strategy for engaging the public.  Provide name to Event coordinator\, Adj Geoff Corson via email (geoffrey.corson.usmc.ret@gmail.com) or cell (757.672.0208) NLT 14 June 2024 (Flag Day). \nCOMMAND AND SIGNAL  Commands will be by voice\, email or phone.  Point of main effort is American Legion Post 108 and the town of Chester.  Overall command is Detachment Commandant Dick Lak (dick_Lak@comcast.net). \nSemper Fidelis\, \nG.A.
