Also visit the Funeral Home website to express personal condolences:  https://obits.lambertfuneralhome.com/col-walter-gallo-sr. \nWHAT:  Perform a final fitting tribute for a Career Marine Veteran. \nWHEN:  Monday\, 18 Mar 2024 at 1300 (volunteers need to be present NLT 1230). \nWHERE:  NH State Veterans Cemetery\, Boscawen\, NH (https://www.nhsvc.com/) \nWHY:  To honor the service and sacrifices of a retired Marine Veteran. \nSITUATION:  On order perform a professionally executed firing detail to honor the service of Col Walter Gallo\, USMCR (Ret).    \nMISSION:  Provide a firing detail at the interment site (NH State Vet Cemetery (NHSVC)) in Boscawen\, NH in direct support of Lambert’s Funeral Home\, the NHSVC and the Gallo family. \nEXECUTION:  Form up at the Assembly Area (Admin Building NHSVC) NLT 1230\, Monday 18 Mar 2024 for issuance of ceremonial firearms and rehearsals; professionally displace to site of ceremony; perform a well executed firing detail in coordination with  Lambert’s Funeral Home and the NHSVC; conduct a brass police call immediately after the ceremony; return ceremonial firearms to weapons custodian for further transport to storage site. \nADMIN AND LOGISTICS:  Uniform is longsleeve undress uniform (with tie)\, white ceremonial duty belt\, white gloves\, red satin jacket; assemble NLT 1230 at NHSVC Admin building; conduct police call immediately following ceremony; return firearms to weapons custodian (Dillon Marine MSgt Mark Lindsley\, USMCR (Ret)). \nCOMMAND AND SIGNAL:  All commands are by voice.  Point of main effort is Dillon Det who will provide ceremonial firearms; NCOIC is Dillon Weapons Custodian\, MSgt Mark Lindsley\, USMCR (Ret); notify MarkL72864@gmail.com NLT Thursday\, 14 Mar 2024 of your availability to support.  This formation is open to all Department of NH Marine Corps League members.  Please info Department Commandant Cherie Monnell (MarineAmazon@comcast.net) and Department SVC Gary Gahan (captainsven@hotmail.com) if volunteering.

The high rate of suicide\, the rampant problem of veteran homelessness\, drug and alcohol addiction\, and the epidemic isolation that veterans face are all areas that we need to address within our community and across the country! \nWe’ll begin with getting comfortable getting together on the third Wednesday of each month for Lunch at Hobbs House once a month. We’d like to hear what the needs of our hometown vets are and then begin to find ways to address them. If all they want is another place to socialize over lunch\, that’s fine too. DESCRIPTION:Thanks to our JPC Bob Niver\, we will move our breakfast location for one week\, to be able to share breakfast with one of our longtime members and Wednesday breakfast regular\, George McCreary. George is currently housed at Partridge House located at 777 Layfayette Road in Hampton\, NH (https://www.partridgehousenh.com/). The staff will accommodate our presence with breakfast fare. Below are some of the details needed (provided by our JPC Bob Niver) if you want to attend:  \n“George’s facility is located at 777 Lafayette Road\, Hampton. Please bring an unwrapped toy and be there around 8:45. I think we will eat in the regular dining room with a special menu. The toys will be taken to the Winnacunnet Fire Hall.Thanks for making this happen. George was excited when I talked to him today.    Bob” \nAs we age and become less mobile\, we need to remember our promise to take care of each other as fellow Marines. George has been active in the Detachment since 2014 and a Lifetime member since 2017. We owe George a debt of gratitude for his service and loyalty to the League/ Detachment and our presence will also help with local toy drives for Christmas 2023.
