I know that I’ll be there; come on down and say hello. \n -Rich P.\, Corporal \nUnited States Marine Corps \nAnd damned proud of it.” \nThe above announcement is provided by Marine Rich Pettengill and it is a good example of what our area provides to Veterans. For a further explanation of what this luncheon entails\, please see below: \n“Outreach beyond our walls \nBuilding Bridges Veterans Initiative                \nAs part of the Building Bridges Veterans initiative (https://buildingbridgesveterans.org/)\, we provide a  comfortable\, respectful\, and non-judgmental space for veterans to gather for lunch\, conversation\, support and friendship. \nAmerican veterans are a critically under-served and tragically marginalized population that we\, at Trinity (https://trinityhampton.org/ministries/)\, feel called to embrace. The high rate of suicide\, the rampant problem of veteran homelessness\, drug and alcohol addiction\, and the epidemic isolation that veterans face are all areas that we need to address within our community and across the country! \nWe’ll begin with getting comfortable getting together on the third Wednesday of each month for Lunch at Hobbs House once a month. We’d like to hear what the needs of our hometown vets are and then begin to find ways to address them. If all they want is another place to socialize over lunch\, that’s fine too. DESCRIPTION:Thanks to our JPC Bob Niver\, we will move our breakfast location for one week\, to be able to share breakfast with one of our longtime members and Wednesday breakfast regular\, George McCreary. George is currently housed at Partridge House located at 777 Layfayette Road in Hampton\, NH (https://www.partridgehousenh.com/). The staff will accommodate our presence with breakfast fare. Below are some of the details needed (provided by our JPC Bob Niver) if you want to attend:  \n“George’s facility is located at 777 Lafayette Road\, Hampton. Please bring an unwrapped toy and be there around 8:45. I think we will eat in the regular dining room with a special menu. The toys will be taken to the Winnacunnet Fire Hall.Thanks for making this happen. George was excited when I talked to him today.    Bob” \nAs we age and become less mobile\, we need to remember our promise to take care of each other as fellow Marines. George has been active in the Detachment since 2014 and a Lifetime member since 2017. We owe George a debt of gratitude for his service and loyalty to the League/ Detachment and our presence will also help with local toy drives for Christmas 2023.
