The Department of Veterans Affairs, National Cemetery Administration announced today that the Veterans Cemetery Grants Program (VCGP), which it oversees, has awarded a grant of up to $5,346,130 to the state of New Hampshire for the expansion of New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
The cemetery serves more than 280,000 Veterans and their eligible family members. The grant will fund 4,225 cremains gravesites, 3,280 columbarium niches, landscaping, and irrigation.
Since its inception in 1978, the VCGP has provided more than $1 billion to establish, expand, improve, and maintain 122 state, territorial and tribal Veterans cemeteries. In fiscal year 2023, these cemeteries conducted more than 43,000 interments.
