 Volunteers are needed as follows:

WHO: Marine Corps League volunteers for Veterans Day Firing Details (x3). 

WHAT:  Perform fitting tributes at local sites in the Seacoast Area to honor Veterans from every generation.  

WHEN:  Monday, 11 Nov 2024 at: (1) 0900, John Paul Jones Park, US-1 Kittery, ME 03904 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Paul_Jones_Memorial_Park); (2) 1000, Kittery Estates Retirement Home, 220 State Road, Kittery, ME 03904 (https://www.holidayseniorliving.com/retirement-communities/holiday-kittery-estates-kittery-me); (3) 1100, Goodwin Park, Islington St.,  Portsmouth, NH 03801 (https://www.cityofportsmouth.com/publicworks/parksandgreenery/goodwin-park) (Firing Detail, participants/attendees need to be present at the first site (JPJ Park) NLT 0830).

WHY:  To honor the service and sacrifices of all Veterans from all generations. 

SITUATION:  On order perform professionally executed firing details (x3) to pay tribute to all Veterans of all generations who have worn the cloth or our Nation.    

MISSION:  Provide appropriate and fitting tributes to honor the occasion of Veterans Day (https://department.va.gov/veterans-day/history-of-veterans-day/#:~:text=In%20November%201919%2C%20President%20Wilson,never%20again%20be%20severed%2C%20andalso, see attached PDF put out by the VA on the history of Veterans Day) in direct support of the town of Kittery, ME; Kittery Estates; and the city of Portsmouth, NH to include VFW Post 168.  

EXECUTION:  Form up at the Assembly Area, Firing Detail site (1) (JPJ Park) for issuance of ceremonial firearms and rehearsals; perform a well executed firing detail and appropriate laying of Memorial Wreath and tribute to Veterans, conduct a brass police call immediately after the ceremony. 

Displace individually to Firing Detail site (2) (Kittery Estates), perform a well executed firing detail to honor the service and sacrifice of Veterans and surviving family members of Veterans currently residing at Kittery Estates, conduct a brass police call immediately after the ceremony. 

Displace individually to Firing Detail site (3) (Goodwin Park),  perform a well executed firing detail to honor the service and sacrifice of Veterans and members of the community that support Veterans, conduct a brass police call immediately after the ceremony; return ceremonial firearms to weapons custodian for further transport to storage site.  Be prepared for inclement weather alternate plans and/or cancellation of the firing detail portion of these tributes.  

ADMIN AND LOGISTICS:  Uniform is long sleeve undress uniform (uniform includes black tie), white ceremonial duty belt, white gloves, red satin jacket (for participants) appropriate civilian attire with MCL cover (for attendees); assemble per direction in Execution paragraph above at already identified locations; conduct brass police call immediately following ceremonies; return firearms to weapons custodian for further transport and storage.
